Breaking News - Luke Broke Up With His Girlfriend
Well, it's been a pretty crazy tonight. While I was driving home from work tonight, I got a phone call from Luke. He broke up with his girlfriend. It's not the first time they've broken up, but this time seems different. I think it's for good this time.
He hinted that he'd like to "officially" start dating me. Or in other words he'd want me to stop seeing the guy in Chicago as he describes Brett. I could see myself dating Luke, which seems odd just thinking it. But I can't imagine no longer seeing Brett. I'm having too much fun with him. I always kind of thought as Luke as my fuck buddy, Brett as my lover. It wasn't a perfect set up but it seemed like it was working until now. I don't know it's just a lot to process tonight and came as pretty much a surprise. I had no idea he was going to break up with her tonight. I still don't know what the reason was.
Luke is coming over in a bit. He's out drinking with some friends and says he wants to come over because he needs some to talk to. I think for once, we'll just be doing talking. I don't know.

I think you know my feelings about that. I think in the long run, this will work out better for you and he.
I know the attraction to Luke, and I'm sorry, but he's obviously coming back to you here for one reason; he doesn't want to be simply fuck-less for the summer. You pegged hit; he's a fuck-buddy, Brett is a lover. Go with that.

If you are a smart girl, you won't give up Brett yet. Tell Luke you have to think about it. You didn't break up with anybody and good fuck buddies are so hard to find. Don't agree to anything without giving yourself a few days to think about it. Perspectives change when you sleep on it (alone).

I'd stay with Brett. Both guys could be the real deal from what I've read, but, personally, I'd rather have an established, wealthy, experienced real deal than somebody who has to start from the bottom and work his way up.
It's summer, be careful of starting or ending anything. This warm weather can fuck with your mind.
I think its too simple to just say 'fuck him for wanting you for himself'. If it were me, I would be open to dating Luke as a girlfriend for the summer to see how it goes, but I would put the condition on it that you would not stop seeing Brett because right now, Brett is the lover and Luke is the great fucker.
But since you have had an ongoing relationship with Luke in that form, he does deserve a chance ... he just can't expect you to immediately dump the other guy for him. Lets say you date both for a few months as in official dating capacity, well then you'll be able to contrast how Luke is as a boyfriend to you, compared with Brett. Of course thats just what I would do, you should do whatever you feel will make you happiest.
Brett is more mature, older, has more money, is a hell of a lot more interesting than Luke. Do not give up Brett for the a college boy.
Its up to you girl. As I sayd before, I kind think there is more to Luke than just fucking. However, when he had a girl, you were the fuckbudy, and that was OK for him. But how long do you think you can keep things up with Brett in the way it is now? But you have time on your side babe. If any of the two bother you, you can kick them both out, and still have that ass serviced. When was the last time you fucked someone else with neither of the two involved anyway?
I concur with the others here. Keep seeing Brett and keep seeing Luke if he'll do it. He is in an emotional state right now and asking you to be exclusive to him is probably more of a reaction to him breaking up with his other girlfriend.
Even if you weren't seeing Brett right now, indulging him in his request for exclusivity would just be co-dependent. A person needs some time before jumping into another relationship so soon.

as we all know the worse thing anyone can do RIGHT after a breakup is get into another relationship. he needs time to process it all anyways. tell him to take some time for him before jumping to such a decision
